Don't Despair

   Patricia Lawson

In the forties, on the way home from Lubbock, Texas to Tahoka, Texas, I stood on the back seat of the car crying nonstop.  Why I don't know.  No amount of persuasion from mother could stop me.  Finally in exasperation she said, "Patricia if you don't stop crying, I'm going to put you out of the car."  Since I didn't stop, that's exactly what she did.  I watched as my mother, grandmother, and sister rode down highway 87 away from me.  The only car on the road at that time had deserted me.  Moments later they turned around, came back, and put me back in the car.  The crying stopped.

Don't Despair

Lord where did you go when I cried?

Since I love you, I expected you by my side.

You didn't answer my prayer the way I expected.

Now I feel all alone and totally neglected.

"My child" he said, "I'm always looking after you.

Trust Me and you will see My way is true.

Sometimes you have to wait for the end results.

Know My way is best when you consult.

Have faith and know that I heard your prayer.

It's already being answered, so don't despair."

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."  (Philippians 4:6-7, NKJV).
