      Snipe hunting sounded like an adventure.  At least the male adults at a family reunion made it seem so.  With big grins on their faces, they explained just how to go about our hunt. Excited, my cousin and I went to a field and lay down between rows of cotton. With anticipation, we opened our sacks and waited and waited. After many minutes had gone by, my cousin got up from where he was and suggested we go in.  I insisted we not give up.  Later we heard a horn and knew we were being called home. Once back at the house, my uncle explained that what we had been told wasn't true. A snipe can't be caught that way and it was all a joke.  In an instant, I slammed my sack over his head all the way to his shoulders and walked away. 

Truth

Truth is real and with time comes to be.

It is out there for all the world to see.

We have the Bible the whole world can read.

It predicts the future which is true indeed.

Each page was inspired by God himself.

Now is the time to take it off the shelf.

Read the words inside and be informed.

Then, about the future you will be forewarned.

The pages are filled with prophecy and love.

It's God's special message to us from above.

The Westbrook Clan      Volunteer work can give a person a since of purpose.  Maybe that's why I signed up to be a Candy Striper at a local hospital.  When a patient asked me my reason for being there, the answer was easy.  I said, "To help people."  Yes, I could deliver juice to patients and help in other ways. One day I saw a nurse coming toward me in the hall carrying something in her hand.  She motioned for me to follow her.  After we went into a nearby room, she began unwrapping a tiny, aborted baby.  It was fully developed and looked like a little doll. Stunned, I stood there starring at the lifeless body. A sadness that is hard to describe filled my heart. After a few quiet moments, we left the room going our separate ways. The Love Letter

Pat Lawson Westbrook      Fourteen is an early age to agree to get married.  Even so, I agreed to marry my sixteen-year-old boyfriend.  As the year rocked on, my personality changed dramatically.  I wasn't the same happy, fun-loving person. By the time summer came along, I let him know I had changed my mind. Almost instantly, I became my old self. He even told me how I seemed different. When his family moved to Louisiana, we wrote each other often.  When I got a letter from him, I would put it in a wooden box and lock it.  One day I realized someone had been picking the lock and reading his letters. To let the person who was doing such a thing know I was on to them, I put a note in the box that read ha-ha no letters today. Beyond the Universe

     During one of my ACOA (Adult Children of Alcoholics) meetings, the leader said, "I want each of you to get a stuffed animal and hug it at least once a day."      That's exactly what I did.  When my grandchildren came to visit, I introduced them and said, "This is Couch Dog.  He lives on the couch and he's not to be taken off.  You can hug and love him all you want."  Today I keep Couch Dog in my bedroom.  When I feel down all I have to do is look at him or pick him up to feel better.  It reminds me of the unconditional love my grandchildren showered on him.  It spills over to me.   Beyond the Universe There is a love beyond the universe. One that's special and can't be reversed. God gives it unconditional and free. It's been given to you and me He proved it by his Christmas gift.
