Life









     According to an urban legend it is easier to balance an egg on it's end during the spring equinox.  Also one can make a broom stand by itself during this time.  Google says any day it can be done.
     Years ago one of my grandchildren called me on the phone and said, "Mups, today you can stand an egg on it's end and you can make a broom stand by itself." Being a person that is always ready to try something new, I worked for over an hour with several eggs.  Since they wouldn't cooperate, I put that aside and moved on to the next challenge.
     First came the mop.  It took patience to get it balanced.  For awhile it stood and then it fell.  Second I worked with a flag pole.  Even though the flag hung a little to one side, it also stood up.  As a final test, I tried the broom.  To me if it stayed up, even for a short time, perhaps the myth is true.  It worked.
     The hardest part came when I decided to get a picture of the three of them performing at the same time. One, two, three, and then they were standing at attention.  Mission accomplished.  What did I prove?  I proved that a person can have a lot of fun doing just about anything. 

Life

Life is an experience meant to be enjoyed.

Forget little things that cause you to be annoyed.

We're each individuals put here for a season

Only for a short time and a special reason.

So love one another and accept differences.

Take each other’s hand and mend the fences.

Have a sense of humor as life comes your way,

   And ask God to bless you each and every day.

The Joy in One's Heart

Roy Westbrook      Before our trip to Tahoka, Texas for my grandfather's funeral, my son was selected to cook hamburgers for lunch since he worked at Whataburger.  He was proud to show off his cooking skills.  When the time came to eat, we all sat down at the table.  After I finished my burger, all the children began to laugh.  Confused I asked what was so funny.  One of them spoke up and said, "Roy showed us how he cooked the meat at work.  When he cooked yours, he flipped it into the air, and it stuck on the ceiling.  We had to peel it off."  Since it tasted delicious and didn't kill me, I laughed with them. The Perfect Answer

The Westbrook Family Roy and Lisa have 9 children and 12 grandchildren.      How does one prepare for the death of a child?  When my oldest child Alan died, we think he just went to sleep and didn't suffer.  The story was different for my next to the oldest child Roy.  He had an incurable brain disease that began to surface many months before his death.  Even in his sickness he kept his sense of humor.  Many times, he told his sister Jesus is coming.  The answer to my question is one is never fully prepared for the death of their child.  According to Hebrews 11:1, NKJV, "Faith is the expectation of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen."  I do have hope that one day I will be with them again in heaven.
